You Can Buy Kevin Durant’s Used Straws

This is one for the hard core collectors out there, because I’m not sure about the practical uses of candy or used straws, but Kevin Durant is doing something very cool and quite odd for charity. Have you seen the Sonic commercials that KD starred in? Here’s a refresher:

Well now you can buy items used in these commercials for charity. Used straws, candy, or an autographed cup.

Each piece comes with a certificate of authenticity and a story signed by Mr. Durant. All money raised goes to SONIC’s Limeades for Learning® program, which provides much-needed classroom supplies and learning materials for public school teachers, in partnership with DonorsChoose.org. For more information about SONIC’s Limeades for Learning® – go to www.limeadesforlearning.com.

The items are encased in glass, so there’s no worry about what to do with an old straw or an old piece of candy or handling them with gloves. They’ll be protected and ready for display in your home. And yes, it seems a little odd to type that. It’s certainly a conversation piece you can have as people wonder why you are displaying a straw in your home. But you can always punctuate your weird conversation by reminding people that the money goes towards a good cause, which is the only feasible explanation as to why a used straw would go for close to five hundred bucks.
